Raid 1 - rebuild time - 337908.3 minute(s) ?

I have installed a second drive in my 323.  The drive was quick formatted in my XP machine as NTFS.  The existing drive in my 323 is functioning fine.  Both drives are Western Digital 1TB green drives.  I am syncing now for a Raid1 configuration.  The reported remaining time was very high.

This is now the current status...

Volume Name:     Volume_1
Volume Type:     RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining:     Degraded
Total Hard Drive Capacity:     981858 MB
Used Space:     178779 MB
Unused Space:     803079 MB

What actions do I need to take now?

Running the 1.06 firmware

Appreciate any input.

Total Drive(s):     2
Volume Name:     Volume_1
Volume Type:     RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining:     15245.8 minute(s)
Total Hard Drive Capacity:     981858 MB
Used Space:     178779 MB
Unused Space:     803079 MB

Just gonna backup the contents to another box, format these two drives and start fresh.  This rebuild is not working currently.  I did swap drive positions which might have caused this to puke.

Just out of curiosity - what makes you think it's not rebuilding?

Volume Name:     Volume_1
Volume Type:     RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining:     14749.0 minute(s)

Used Space:     178779 MB
Unused Space:     803079 MB

Is it normal for the status to report abnormally high remaining times?  This is currently reporting 10.25 days.  This working as intended?

Re: Raid 1 - rebuild time - 337908.3 minute(s) ?

Turns out I have a failing HD.  This HD would complete a format in XP and disk check in XP without issue, but when I used the WD diagnostics tools, it found this drive failed due to non-repairable sector issues.  RMAing the drive.  Will report back when I get the new drive installed and sync completes.

Re: Raid 1 - rebuild time - 337908.3 minute(s) ?

Got my replacement drive installed and the raid1 rebuild would not work.  Transferred all good data off the good drive to an external box.  Quick formatted both functioning drives on an XP box with NTFS.  Reset DNS323 to factory defaults without drives installed.  Rebooted with drives installed and Raid1 rebuilt without issue.

Root cause of my initial errors was due to a faulty drive.

Believe my raid1 rebuild issues after replacing the faulty drive was due to my original known good drive being in the wrong slot?

One thing I didn't try was...
reset the unit to factory defaults without any drives installed
reload with the single known good drive installed
reload with the new drive added to then rebuild Raid1

Either way I'm back up with raid1 goodness.  smile
