I've been attempting to find a way to connect to my NAS other than FTP from an external IP. I use smb (\\servername) locally and it works. I put my NAS as the primary DMZ on my router and I can connect to it from an external IP, the problem is it never asks me for a username and password meaning it's open to anyone which is a huge security risk. Does anyone know of a way to password protect the smb share?
