Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
I have a DNS-323 with 2x 1.5TB drives in it. I would like to replicate the settings (not the data) on the 2nd DNS-323 - specifically all passwords, Fun_plug installations, Rsync settings, etc.
This is for a friend of mine who loves my settings & like the ease of the same root password. Anyway, how should I do this? Pull one of my 1.5TB drives from my DNS-323, manually run Rsync on her new 1tb drive, then put her 1TB drive in the first bay, put her second tb drive into the second bay & off we go?
Thanks,
Rich

I'm not sure it's going to be that easy. Depending on how you setup your customized FFP,
customizations like the password file are stored in NVRAM, and will have to be recreated on
the new DNS-323.
For customizations which are stored on the HD, then a simple clone of the disk will suffice;
however, for customizations stored in NVRAM (like several persistent web GUI values) you
will have to 're-do' the setup on the new DNS-323 identically.
You didn't describe how your disks are setup: RAID1? RAID0? JBOD? Individual disks?

Hi,
I just have it set up as two individual drives - no raid at all. I prefer the Rsync on a daily basis instead of a on the fly raid backup for the dns - though maybe a raid setup would be fine for this person.
Anyway, I thought I could Rsync the new drive & make that the master in the new DNS.
My fun_plug isnt to advanced, just out of the box, ssh & an rsync script. I am wondering if I should just put a 1tb drive in, rsync, & just give her my current DNS.
Thanks,
Rich
