Using the USB printer port from Linux?

I have a LaserJet 1320 attached to the USB printer port on my 323 and it works just about perfectly from Windows.  Now I'm trying to do the same thing from Linux (the KDE flavor of Ubuntu) and am having no luck.

Should I be trying to config a printer that uses the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), and LPD/LPR device, or something different?

I appreciate any and all helpful replies - thanks in advance!

Re: Using the USB printer port from Linux?

Th easiest way is to use the hplip tools. Just install them, run hp-setup and your printer will be added and configured automatically in cups.
