So I got a pink LED and a drive Failed email from my new unmodified Dlink that has a few month old Segate 500GB drive in it. The drive passes all tests repeatedly with Seatools and I can read the drive fine with the EXTifs driver in Windows. I'm pretty sure the drive is fine. So what would cause this?
I guess it's possible but I'm not actually positive 100% that the power went out recently for a few seconds. Would that do it? Otherwise I can't think of anything externally that would cause this.
Beyond that I'm thinking of returning the DNS-323 and A) exchanging it for another one or B) just returning it and sticking with my server and not using a NAS. What do you all think? Does the power failure scenario seem likely(ie I shouldn't worry) or is this a common problem where good drives are said to have Failed even though they're fine? Thanks.
