No Date Header in mail from dns-323

I have some serious problems getting mail reports from my DNS-323.

It's obvious that my mail server doesn't accept too badly formatted mails, and the DNS-323 doesn't include "Date Header" and is therefore being rejected. (Yes, I'm running my own mail server, - it's running on a SME Server (http://www.smeserver.org), - pretty standard Linux stuff really!)

I think this short extract from my qpsmtpd/current log explains it well:

2007-05-02 21:04:37.339186500 4254 Plugin check_basicheaders, hook data_post returned DENY, Mail with no Date header not accepted here
2007-05-02 21:04:37.339946500 4254 552 Mail with no Date header not accepted here

...the dns-323 seems to deliver mail with no Date header, which is refused by this mail server (as well as by many many other servers of course!)

So, is there ANY WAY to solve this?????

I have of course the latest firmware in the 323 box, and I have sent several reports about this to the DLINK support with no real "answers" at all, just the standard bullshit about where I could get help with my "Home Networking"....

Anyone here on this forum have any ideas?????

Best Regards:

Re: No Date Header in mail from dns-323

Strange, am I the only one in the world with this problem, or have everyone else applied a fix to this and don't want to share the secret???

Sorry, but c'mon, - if you need more info about the case I could provide it if I only knew what info you need...

The 323-box is quite nice, but I could NEVER recommend it to any clients as long as this issue isn't resolved.

I've tried to direct the mail reports out to several other external smtp servers, with no luck. (But of course I don't have access to their log files so I cannot see why it fails out there...

Let me put a following question on this:

Does anyone have a suggestion on any "free" smtp service out there on the net that would accept such mail reports from the DNS 323??????????

Best Regards:

Re: No Date Header in mail from dns-323

My I find it odd that you can not send mail through your own SMTP server but I can direct my DNS-323 to Sbcglobal and receive my status emails. Maybe they just don't care lol.

Re: No Date Header in mail from dns-323

My response would be similar to Aaron's - I configured my DNS-323 to use my ISP's mail servers - I get my daily status update without any difficulty.  My guess is you might want to look at reconfiguring your SMTP server to accept the emails.

Re: No Date Header in mail from dns-323

OK, it may be true, but still the fact remains:

The DNS-323 creates wrongly formatted mail headers, since the Date Header is missing...
