Hi, I'm getting very confused by Samba on my DNS-323.
I've tried upgrading to the ffp extra-packages version of Samba, which seems to run fine, but I've found that every 5 minutes my dns-323 is running smb restart, killing the ffp samba and restarting the original samba.
The reason why I was upgrading was to try and resolve an issue where Samba file copies over a few minutes long get killed off, which makes me think it was happening even on the original version of Samba.
Does anyone have any idea why, it seems to be init that's restarting the Samba processes but I'm struggling to figure out why.
Thanks,
Ewan

For now I've renamed /usr/bin/smb to /usr/bin/smb.orig and Samba has stopped being re-started, but it would obviously good to find out the real cause

I'm having the same problem. Has anyone had luck coming up with a solution to this yet?

I have firmware version 1.08 and my samba was killed after each addons installation/start/stop.
So I added that to my fun_plug.local:
rm /usr/bin/smbd
rm /usr/bin/nmbd
mkdir /tmp/empty
mount -o bind /tmp/empty/ /usr/sbin/samba/
Removing /usr/bin/smbd and /usr/bin/nmbd wasn't enough
