Hi all
Thanks Kylek for compiling Transmission 1.61. I want to mention one thing. Old version of Transmission remote GUI 0.95 is not working with 1.61, but worked with 1.51. You need to upgrade Transmission remote GUI to version 1.0 and everything works fine. You don't need to use WEB interface when you have remote GUI :) So no problems at all ! Thanks !
One question: is there any documentation on new tags in settings.json file ? Old wiki does not have any description on alt-... and other new tags.
alpha
Um, I'm not the programmer of Transmission Remote GUI. You'll have to ask someone else about this :)

I know this Anyway thanks for your effort.
I was talking about tags in setting.json file, so this is nothing to do with Remote GUI, but it's still related to programming/configuring

Adding torrents through the web interface seems to be broken in 1.61, although I've heard that adding them via URL works. I know nothing about HTML/Javascript, so I can't do anything about it.
Probably it's a good idea to have a link to 1.60 also in the first post of this thread then?
I added a torrent to Transmission via the web interface's "Browse" button today, and low and behold, it worked just fine. This urged me to check the source code revisions, and it turns out that the bugfix for this issue is already present in version 1.61.
I'm not sure why it didn't work at first but does work now, though. If you're still having this issue, please report to transmissionbt.com

Just checked the Transmission forum, the bug about uploading through browse is set for 1.62.

Hi KyleK,
Thanks very much for all your hard work, this build and automatic are great!
Quick question: I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to set the number of active torrents. That is, I want to be able to load up 50 torrents, and then have 5 actively downloading at a time, with the rest waiting for the first 5 to finish.
I thought this might be the open-file-limit parameter in settings.json, but it doesn't seem to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

bigfatphony, please remember that the DNS321/323 have only 64 MB RAM, so adding up a bunch of torrents isn't probably the best idea.

I'm afraid that's not possible. Queueing is only available in the Mac client, I believe.

How can I fix this in my Transmission 1.61? I still can't add torrent files through the web-gui.

Seems like the 100% CPU bug is back in 1.61
I just got home and found my CH3SNAS spinnig its fan at maximum speed. A quick look in the process list showed a transmission-daemon at 100%
Back to 1.60 for me!

If you can reproduce it, report it to the Transmission guys. I can't do anyting about bugs, I just compile the sources for the DNS-323/CH3SNAS.
PS: I haven't noticed the bug so far.

rb338, you could also see this kind of activity if for example Transmission crashed and it's now verifying the local data of a very large torrent.

Pre-release tarballs of 1.62 are available now at http://build.transmissionbt.com/job/1.6x-linux-inc/ ... we're still a ways from an official 1.62, but if Kyle or anyone wants to make a binary from of one of these 1.6x nightlies to get some dsm testers to report any new problems, maybe 1.62 will go a little more smoothly than the rushed-out 1.61 was...

Just a suggestion, but could you add instructions on how to update Transmission to the first post? With these frequent version updates people, such as myself, may be wondering how to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 for example.
If you dont want to update the first post, could you please tell me how to update from 1.5 to 1.6 please??

Surely it does already?
The first post says as it's first step after downloading:
funpkg -r Transmission-1.22-ffp0.5.tgz (This will remove the old version, but keep all config files intact)
You would obviously use your 1.5X version before installing the newest version again at the end.
RAP
PS Only thisn I would add i sthat I always make sure I have stopped the old version first.

I normally don't like to provide packages for nightlies or betas, but since several of you guys had problems with 1.61, I decided to make an exception.
If the web interface doesn't work properly for you, or you experience any other issues, try Transmission-1.61-r8428.tgz.
The torrent upload issue should be fixed, as are several other small bugs.
As always: Unless it's a configuration issue, or the release won't run on your DNS-323 at all, please report any problems to the Transmission forums, as I only compile the thing

Just removed 1.61-1 and installed this, Web UI looks more responsive. I tried this because the download speeds I'm seeing seem lower that I'd expect (up speed is perfectly fine). Anyway, thanks for this KyleK, much appreciated

noticed the snappier response of the newest build but still doesn't work correctly with google chrome.

How did you manage to get Transmission-1.61-r8428.tgz to run? I tried but got the following error.

Thanks Kyle, your latest build (r8428) solved my issues with the web gui.

Well, I tried r8428 but no dice. iPhone interface is also very very slow since 1.6x btw, but that's not a huge issue.
My CH3SNAS constantly reported a load of >1 with 1.61 and r8428, since I went back to Transmission 1.60 it dropped to < 0.5
I haven't removed any torrents, still the same 2 as before. And there aren't any torrents on "checking" btw.
Maybe I should note that 1 of those 2 torrents is over 100 GB with about 300 files. But again, no problem with 1.60...

Please report this in detail to the Transmission devs (open a ticket at trac.transmissionbt.com).
I'm fairly certain that the large torrent is the reason, but since 1.60 kinda works for you, it needs to be figured out.
You can also come to the Transmission IRC chatroom at irc://irc.freenode.net/transmissionbt

Kylek do you still have a link to your 1.52 build (or even 1.53)?
Its the only version that is accepted by every private tracker I use.
Thanks.
