PLEAse HELP dlink-321 brand new slow as crap i dont understand why...?

just got a dlink nas 321 model..

connected with a 3 foot cat6 cable to a linksys 320n router at 1.0gbps full duplex
main pc is connected to 320n router at 1.0gbps via cat6

using filezilla when uploading 8-10 gig single video files im reaching a average throughput of 21-22 (21,000-22,000) transfer rate (100mbps lan connectection max speed is 12,500 or 12.5) so im getting fast as hell speeds transfering files to the dlink 321 from my pc through router so its working right. heres the funny part..

WHEN downloading or copying files from 321 TO PC through ftp the big video files theere is no good average speed because the transfer for some reason is really unstable and it avergages out at 4000 or 4.0mbps and watching the network graph in task manager for nic the transfer has alot of wavy lines meaning going slower and slower and slower and can not attain anything higher than 5.0mbps.

now if it was a connection issue or router issue or cable issue there is no way in hell i can upload at twice the speed of 100mbps which is 200mbps and the nas can handle the files being sent to it really fast but when the 321 sends me files its like its broken..

I have a linksys NLSU2 with a usb2 ext hard drive hooked to router using debian 5.0 and vsftpd and through that little peice of crap i get a smooth aevergae max speed of 7.4mbps or 7400 out of the 12.5 or12,500 max 100mbps speed when copying files from it to my pc..

HOW in the hell can my NLSU2 from linksys transfer files faster through my network than this dlink 321 nas when uploading to the nas is fast and fine and smooth???

is it defective? is there a way to change config for ftp server built in? way to install vsftpd to it and control it through web admin?

The asymmetry makes me think of a routing issue but even when routing everything through the router it should be greater than 4 Mb/s. Still for peace of mind one test is to put the pc and the NAS back to back (using a cross-over cable if needed).

Otherwise, have you tried uploading with FTP? Similarly, have you tried downloading using samba for example?
