Hello, I currently have 1x 500 GB and 1x 1.0TB drive. I would like to exchange the 500GB drive with a 1.0TB as well and then set it in Raid 1 with the other drive.
If I add this new drive in which bay should it be placed and if I select Raid 1 will my data on the old 1.0TB be save?
Thanks in advance for the reply.

To change from RAID0 to RAID1 you must :
1) backup your data
2) setup (reformat) your drives to RAID1
3) restore your data from backup

Ok thanks. So there is no way of adding an empty drive next to the existing one and set both in Raid 1. You always need to format BOTH in Raid 1?
Too bad, because it takes ages to backup my drive over the network.

That's not what you asked - or maybe it was and the title of your post and the content are different - the title of your post asks about going from RAID0 to RAID1 - as mig said, you cannot go from RAID0 to RAID1 without backingup/reformatting/restoring.
However, you can with the later firmwares - I don't remember if the feature was introduced in 1.05 or 1.06 add a second drive and format it and create a RAID1 array - however - since the unit has been know to format the wrong drive, you'd be well advised to backup your data before installing a second drive.
Also - whilst it may take ages to backup - you have to ask yourself, which will take longer, backing up the data or recreating it? And last, but by no means least - RAID1 is not a form of backup.

O.K. JJK, just to clarify, what is the drive configuration of your currently installed 500GB and 1.0TB drives? RAID0?
