DHCP / IP problems andnetwork LED always flashing.

Hi there,
Hope someone can help me out.

I have being using my 323 for almost 1 year.
It's current firmware is 1.06 (had 1.07 but downgraded to trouble shoot)
I have 2 Seagate drives:
1 -  Seagate ST31500341AS  (1.5T)
2 -  Seagate ST3500320AS (500G)

The 323 is connect to a Dlink DIR-655 router (latest firmware).
The 323 is set to DCHP.
All Computers and 323 are in the same workgroup.

My first problem (may be all related)- The network LED on the 323 is always flahing. This is causing all the network connected device's LEDs to flash (router,  IP phone, HUB). If I disconnect the 323 from the network everything goes back to to normal. So I know the 323 is the cause and it may be broadcasting. I know the flashing LED problem is in some other threads but I did not see a solution or explanation. Any ideas?

My 2nd  issue began when I noticed very slow data transfer from one of my PCs (running XP) - 1.4G took 44 minutes.  I tested the same file on my 2nd PC (running Vista) - 1.4G took < 3minutes.
I suspected it was a cable/noise issue and swapped cables around. No luck
I flashed both the NAS and router to the latest firmware and rebooted everything. I noticed that the 323 did not take a DCHP address - My router is set to give an address between 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199. the 323 would have an IP on 192.168.122.xx. Very strange...
My router shows (in status) the 323 as having a 192.168.0.198 IP but when I logon to he 323 it shows 192.168.122.xxx. the Dlink Easy config shows the 192.168.122.xx IP.
Why won’t the 323 accept a IP from my router? any idea?

So I decided to map the 192.168.122.xx address to my PC and see my data transfer rate. XP machine - 1.4G file< 3mins smile.. Vista machine - 1.4G file 44mins.. what he hell????? Opposite of what I seen before..

I have rebooted and reset the devices many time and could not get the proper transfer rate on both machines..
After many hours I have this current work around - Set a static IP for the 323 (192.168.0.9) outside the router DHCP range. Both machines transfer the 1.4G file <3mins. However the network LEDs are still always still blinking and the 323 is not accepting a DHCP address..

Any ideas???.. Thanks..

Try setting a Static IP address on the DNS. I'd suggest 162.168.0.50, which is outside the DHCP range thus should avoid conflict with other devices
