Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

Hi! I'm experiencing a very slow access to the NAS, but I don't really know why! It just become slow from night to day! Here you see an example: www.topikito.com/img/im3.png Nearly 8 minutes to transfer 75Mb. Isn't that wired?

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

Here's a top trace for you to see. I'm actually transfering a 400MB file from the NAS to my computer.

Mem: 60488K used, 1404K free, 0K shrd, 10640K buff, 34872K cached
CPU:   0% usr   8% sys   0% nice   0% idle  91% io   0% irq   0% softirq

1775     1 root     S     1044   2%   0% lpd Waiting

I don't know if this could help. You can see up that the percent of the IO is 91%, but it's normally down at 0% while transfering. Also, the HD's ain't working quite much...  :S They should be reading  the file for transfer it, should it? But it doesn't. Sometimes, i hear the HDs read. That may be the reason of the  low speed.

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

Can it be something about the free ram?

root@Bombito:~# free
              total         used         free       shared      buffers
  Mem:        61892        60228         1664            0        16992
Swap:      1060208            0      1060208
Total:      1122100        60228      1061872

How much free ram have you guys in your 323 ?

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

TopiPro:~ topi$ scp root@Bombito:/mnt/HD_a2/ROBERT/Pelis/movie.avi /Users/topi/Desktop/movieeee.avi
root@bombito's password:
Crank.avi                                       1%   12MB   1.0MB/s   11:11 ETA

It's faster than through Finder, but it doesn't come over 1 MB/s. I've got it connected to a 100 Mbs router sad

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

What are the speeds when you connect directly to the nas? Most of the time the problem is in the router or the cables.

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

If I connect it directly to the NAS, it connects at 1000 Mbs and it's incredibly fast! I limit it to 100 mbs, and it's also faster than through the router. :S:S I couldn't access through scp, :S don't know why. Whatever, i'm doing it again, through the router, and its about 1,2 MBs :S wired?????

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

Sounds like a problem with the router. What brand and model router is it?

Zyxel P660 HW-61. The firmware isn't updateable because it have been modificated by the manufacter.

Re: Very Slow Access to the DNS-323

Well! The problem is surely the router (i would reset it, but i have made so many changes to it that i can't remember, so i just don't want to). I needed a 10/100/1000 switch, so i think it will fix the problem smile
