Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hello,

I ve a DNS-313 and I ve installed the last version of transmission, thanks for your tutorial.

I've still a problem, when I'm downloading a big file (more than 100mo) the status of the download (in percent) go up and down... and the volume downloaded too, so at time T it say that I've downloaded 63% (300mo) and a time T+5 it say 62.5% (298mo)... T+10 63.2%... T+15 62.4% ...T+20 61.9% ...  ... ...

I've installed Ctorrent and i've the same problem (and with mldonkey too) (I executed Ctorrent with the minimum memory). But Ctorrent said me that there is a hash failed on the downloaded part.

I've increased the memory dedicated to Ctorrent. and it seen to work fine now.

But I would like to use transmission, (because the interface is better ;-)). I suppose that the probleme is the same for this software and i need to allocate more memory. But How To? (or maybe there is an other solution to this problem?)

Thanks for your help, I ve made a lot of research on internet, but I didn't find anything

Best regards

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hi all!
I have a problem with installing the 1.73 version.
So I have already installed 1.61-1 and work without problems.
When i try to remove it:

First I stop transmission. Next

/mnt/HD_a2# funpkg -r Transmission-1.61-1-ffp0.5.tgz
Skipping Transmission-1.61-1-ffp0.5.tgz (not installed)

But if I try to install the 1.73-5:

/mnt/HD_a2# funpkg -i Transmission-1.73-5.tgz
Skipping Transmission-1.73-5.tgz (installed: Transmission-1.61-1)

So what way can I uninstall the transmission?

this is the line of transmission.log that refers to this crash

"/ffp/bin/transmission-daemon: torrent.c: 2349: tr_torrentCheckMoveCompleted: Assertion `tr_isTorrent( tor )' failed."

Try this one and let me know how it goes. Seems the move-completed patch wrecked some havok.

Could you post an "official" 1.73 release, without 3rd party patches? I can't use 1.73 now because of this sad

The button has been removed. You can remove torrent + data via the right mouse button context menu.

At first, try these:

Code:

$ funpkg -r Transmission-1.61
$ funpkg -r Transmission-1.61-1

If it still won't remove that version, go to /ffp/var/packages. There should be a file named "Transmission-1.61-1". Delete it. Then try to install the new version again.

Alternatively, you can do this:

Code:

$ funpkg -I Transmission-1.73-5.tgz

The capital I forces funpkg to install regardless of an existing version.

You can ignore it. The version information wasn't updated when building the package. This still is v1.73, however.

Please direct your question at the forums at www.transmissionbt.com. I'm just compiling the app, I don't know too much about its internals :)

Of course. I intended to do so anyway, but got held up the past couple of days.

You can download it here, I also replaced the link in the first post with this version.

Can you provide a little more information about the crash?
Did it only happen when you used the "remove torrent" button? Or the "remove torrent + data" button?
Was the torrent downloading/seeding/stopped?
Were any other torrents loaded in Transmission. Were these downloading/seeding/stopped?
Was a seed ratio specified for the torrent?

I'll relay this information to the creator of the patch, maybe we can figure out a solution.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Actually, I wasn't doing anything at all. I just added a torrent and after it had been downloading for a while, crash. It was the only torrent in Transmission at the time and the seed ratio was probably close to infinite (as in, nothing).

I'll try installing the official one you just posted and see if this is any better. If I have time this weekend, I'll put on the one with the patch and see if I can get more information for you smile

Thanks!

edit:
Next morning, Transmission 1.73-7 still going! Works like a charm smile

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

For those who have crashing problem when removing torrent file on transmission 1.73, I have found the reason.

edit transmission setting at /mnt/HD_a2/.transmission-daemon/settings.json
then
edit "completed-dir" to some directory u like after the torrent has been downloaded completed.

example:
"completed-dir": "\/mnt\/HD_a2\/Completed",

create the completed torrent folder, chown to nobody.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

When does transmission actually move the completed torrent from the active folder to the completed folder?

I've just had to rebuild my NAS (Disk failure as I was enabling a new set of backups sad ) and have setup 1.73-7

I have in my settings.json:

"completed-dir": "\/mnt\/HD_a2\/data\/torrents\/completed\/",
"download-dir": "\/mnt\/HD_a2\/data\/torrents\/active",

But when the torrent finishes is just sits in a seeding state and doesn't get moved.

Any thoughts? (Yes permissions are correct)

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hmmm for some reason it's now working.  The only thing I did was load it using the transmission remote.net app.  Very strange.

Edit:

I just remembered I added the following to my settings.json

"complete-dir": "\/mnt\/HD_a2\/data\/torrents\/completed\/",
"complete-dir-enabled": true,
"completed-dir": "\/mnt\/HD_a2\/data\/torrents\/completed\/",

Now which one of those made it work i don't know, but I don't want to break it hmm

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

After blowing away my setup again and re-installing I noticed transmission wasn't moving completed torrents again WTF!!

Turns out the feature isn't in 1.73-7 sneaky kylek :p

Also Automatic  0.4.1-2 doesn't work with the above version.

Doesn't save to the automatic.state file.  Rolling back to -6 of transmission seems to make it work again.

1.73-7 works great except for the completed directory moving. Copied the settings from magnazan. Tried changing ownership etc to no avail.

1.73-7 doesnt have the "Move After Complete" feature, because it was causing crashes for some people. It was an unofficial feature after all.

Ahh I see.  It's a pity as it works so well when it's setup.  Guess I'll be sticking with the previous version for now ;-)

1.73-6 is still available, and there is absolutely no difference in the two versions (except for the move feature, of course), so you're not missing out :)

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

I still have Clutch installed on my DNS-323 from an older incarnation of transmission. While it seems to work fine with 1.73, I'd really like to get with the times and use transmission's native web interface. What is the best way for me to drop Clutch and make this transition? FYI: I'm running funplug .05 on a DNS323 and the latest 1.08 beta firmware.

Thanks!
