Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

easy debain (lenny) install - but missing FAN control

Hi have for a long time want to test out to install debian on my dns-323 - but it looked so complicated and i dinit know if my current setup (ffp, twonky, etc etc) would get damaged.

I followed this super-simple guide: http://www.markstahler.ca/2009/07/dlink … -wtorrent/

And i only had to rename my old "fun_plug" file to "fun_plug_old" and then copied the 2 files to the dns-323 root and rebooted - and then it booted up debian (follow the guide to upgrade dist, packages etc)

But then i realised there are no EASY way to controll the fan, is this true?
With a FAN running in full speed it's totaly useless to install debain at all. I really hope i am wrong here.

'The best part was i just had to rename the new "fun_plug" file to something like "fun_plug_debian" and rename back my FFP fun plug and reboot and then i was back on my old config wink

Thanks,
Martin

It's not booting Debian, but only starting various Debian programs in a separate, isolated directory tree. That's a big difference, and the original firmware is still present and running (taking care of the fan).

Re: easy debain (lenny) install - but missing FAN control

Thanks for replying. But why wasn't the fan controlled? It didn't change behaviour when i changed the settings in the (d-link) web-gui?
It was constant running full speed (when i switched back to ffp it instantly went silent (im not running any other fan control program)

Thanks,
