fun_plug: NAS doesn't remember user home directory

Up until a few weeks ago, I used to log into my NAS via SSH as root. First thing I did was changing the home of root to /ffp, for convenience. Of course I stored the new configuration with the store-passwd.sh script so it would survive reboots (which it did).

Recently I switched to logging in with a different user, and also changed its home folder with usermod and called store-passwd.sh after that.
Herein lies the problem: Even though the script reports no issues, the NAS has forgotten about the user's changed home folder after a reboot. I have to set it again, manually.

Passwords and root's home folder is remembered, however.

I call both usermod and store-passwd.sh as user root (using 'su root'), because of user privileges.
Any idea what might be causing this? I don't reboot often, but sometimes it's necessary, unfortunately.
