Temperature anomaly on DNS-323

DNS323 with firmware revision 'B' as stamped on the unit.
Running 0.5 ffp
1.0.7 dlink software

All is working well, however temperature shows as 32F/0C after 2 days. If I reboot the unit I can see correct temperature as it is at the time of reboot. ssh allows me to run fanspeed g and temperature g 0 also dns323-fan and dns323-temp works sowing the temperature and fanspeed. Fan speed is constant at 2650 when temperature shows 0C/32F. It starts to run fast for a couple of second and then drops to 2700 when rebooted. At present time the temp is 118F/48C after reboot and fan is at 2700.

Before undoing ffp and calling dlink I was wondering if this is a defective unit or something that I can check. I am not a linux guru but can easily work on this os. BTW, before calling D-Link do I have to undo the ffp by resetting it to defaults? My drives are two seperate volumes - no raid and I use bacup script to copy files from one volume to other every night. If I reset I know that I can't get to the data as the unit will prompt to format and after moving almost 200GB of data I am not sure what I'll do to recover that.

Any help will be appreciated before both of my 1.5TB's fries due to high temp or shortens their lives.

Looks like the TWSI issue: Temperature reading problem!

Re: Temperature anomaly on DNS-323

Fonz- I believe I am running ntpd as the time was always an hour off - I remember doing something and now the time is fixed. I will confirm that tonight.
Loose gravel - I will check out the tread you've posted - I gave a cursory look and will run commands mentioned there to see however I started using mediatomb - one that is built with ffp nothing fancier or upgraded one.

This morning the fan was at 2560 and temp at 0 before leaving for work.

Thanks for your responses - I'll post my findings.

Re: Temperature anomaly on DNS-323

Stopped ntpd and everything seems to be normal. Previously, if I rebooted the nas from ssh or wenpage it never completed reboot, I had to physically power it down and back on as the power square light will keep blinking. Now I can reboot from ssh and from website wihout any issues. I also added once a day ntp check to sync time. If it gets worse I might sync more than once. Thanks to fonz and loose gravel.
