Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
To be clear, I'm new to the DNS-323, but on old linux vet.
I don't like the default SaMBa mountings, so I wrote my own smb.conf. I put it in place, restart smb and everything is perfect. But, on reboot, the DNS-323's default smb.conf is written back in and used.
Where/how is the default being pulled in? How can I over-ride this? I thought I saw the mechansim in the rc scripts in /etc but that doesn't seem to be the right place.
Thanks all!

Use fun_plug to replace your smb.conf. DNS boots from a ram disk and everything written to it will be lost when you reboot the box.

thanks, that's what I needed to know. I figured it was something like that after looking over the scripts.
