I'm sorry to keep asking for help, but I've run into another error:

I don't think the gnome-config error is a problem because it seems to move on, but intltool seems to be the problem. I have intltool-0.40.6-1 and gettext-0.17-2 installed. Not sure what's wrong.

Okay, using the line "./configure --disable-nls" seemed to work

I'll continue to try to compile and let you guys know how it went. BTW Kyle, I think the file server that has transmission on it is down, so if this works I'll just attatch the final products 1.74 and 1.75b2 here

The file server works just fine here.

I don't like posting beta versions or development versions of Transmissions because it'll potentially increase the amount of problems users report. That's why I haven't posted any of the betas yet. Since the main reason for the upcoming 1.75 release is a problem with Mac OS X 10.6, I'm quite sure a stable version will be available within days. I'll post it then, as usual.

Maybe your firewall blocks port 31337? (e.g. if you're at work your office's firewall might not let the request through)

I just tested it on another internet source and its the same problem. I've downloaded from your file server recently, but for the past two or three days I havn't been able to.

Hello!

First time installed fun pack and transmission on my dns-323

Used theese commands:
# funpkg -r Transmission-1.22-ffp0.5.tgz (This will remove the old version, but keep all config files intact)
# funpkg -i curl-7.18.1.tgz (only if you don't have it installed already)
# funpkg -i Transmission-1.75-1.tgz
# wget http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0. … 9.29-7.tgz
# funpkg -i uclibc-0.9.29-7.tgz

The problem is - transmission in web interface says that \\downloads\filename doesnt exist. I created Downloads folder from ftp client - same problem. Or folder doesnt exist or torrent is paused.

Please help me to make it work.
I didnt find any exact solution of the above problem.

Reported where? I can't fix anything if I don't know about it
It seems the server was under rather heavy load last night, this might have been the reason. It should be fixed now.
Please note that the web server does not use the standard HTTP port 80, but port 31337. You might not be able to download any files if your provider (or your employer) blocks any ports other than the standard ones.

Hmm. No crashes here but CPU usage goes to 100% sometimes. I'm using 1.75 but problem was also present with 1.74.

This is a known problem. For now I would suggest disabling DHT and PEX support:

I am experiencing crashing problem both with 1.75 and 1.74 and I don't exactly remember about 1.73 I've noticed that transmission can randomly crash if I have two or more downloads simultaniously. and never crash with one download or seeding. There ain't any error messages in transmission-daemon.log After manual start of daemon downloads may go on to finish successfully.
And another bug - I have one torrent which switches from seeding to finished by itself time after time ....

Thanks Kylek. I've disabled DHT and PEX support in the settings file now. Hope that avoids future CPU hogging! Guess I could have seen this was a known problem at the transmission site. So thank you very much for your kind support.

Am I the only one thinking that transmission could use a little more testing? I for sure have had my share of problems over time... My guess is the developers must have a regression test suite that could use a little expansion!? Wish I had the time to help out. Oh well, have to live with it then ;-)

I think Transmission is tested pretty well, actually. The main developers really know what they're doing
But look at the amount of torrents out there: There's no way to test all of them, ever. That's the beauty of this being open-source: If you find a problem, report it, and eventually someone will look into it. Imagine Transmission was a Microsoft application. You'd probably have to wait a few months for a new release

Anyway, regarding this specific issue: The devs couldn't have seen this, because they develop for desktop machines (Mac and Linux). The CPU hogging we're seeing on the NAS won't be visible on a normal desktop that has 2+ cores and loads of RAM. It's really hard to find.

Also, a reminder: If you see problems with Transmission, please report them to the Transmission dev team, and not here! I really can't do much about it, since I only package the application for our NAS.

Hey Kylek

I saw on the transmission website you had an interest in ticket 671. This is one I'm anxious for, since my router dies from even looking at it the wrong way, so to speak. Queueing torrents is vital for me. Right now, I let the CH3SNAS download at night, and when I get up, I restart the router, pause the downloads so the wife has internet in the daytime.

If I wouldn't pause the torrents, my router would die within two hours. And I'm using the trans_utils script even, for rudimentary queueing!

Anyway, is the patch mentioned at the end, something that would help my poor self? Any chance of it coming to the daemon? I'm not into compiling, but if this patch would bring queueing to us NAS'ers, would you consider compiling a version containing it?

Yes, I'm very interested in queueing myself, mainly because the NAS isn't the fastest on the market and even a few downloads can bring it to a crawl.
I applied the latest patch to my own version, but it still has issues.

I'll try to actively contribute to that patch, we'll see how it goes. I do know that the devs know that we "embedded device" guys long for queueing, so it might be a priority for one of the next versions.

Currently, I'm reluctant to produce versions of Transmission that deviate (too much) from the official code, but if they decide not to implement it (which I doubt) and I can get it to perform well, I might reconsider.
