Hi.
Right... onwards in making the dns-323 work as it should.
I have a problem with reconnecting the network drive.. when I reboot it doesn't reconnect.
here's info
WinXP
User : Martin
Pass : nothing
DNS-323
User Martin
Pass: xxxxxx
When I map the drive, click 'connect using a different username' and enter my details all is well.
then I reboot..
then no reconnect.. I have to enter password again.
Now if I add the same password to XP then all works...
I tried a few of the Vista solutions (local policies etc) but didn't work..
I am at a loss.. I cannot believe this is how it's supposed to be...
I don't want a password on my computer.. but I do want one on the DNS.. also I cannot actually create a user on the DNS without a password..
Anyone have a working solution?

I am having a similar or same issue. I cannot get XP to login to the DNS-323 unit automatically. I have tried using userpasswords2 to remember the user name and password, but no luck so far. Userpasswords2 will not accept a simple user name such as "Greg". It insists the name be in a domain\username or computer\username or user@domain (etc) format. Usernames with '\' or '@' are prohibited by the DNS. I could get all my users to login manually by logging in under another user name (as d-link documents on their web site), but this is totally impractical in my environment. So to summarize, I need to be able to create and remember user names and passwords so the XP workstation will connect to the DNS on start up. Thanks to anyone who might help!

adding "net use X: \\your.nas\share password /user:Martin" or similar to autostart works for me on xp and windows 7
