Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi everybody,
I just got a brand New DNS-323, Hardware revision B1, Firmware 1.0.7. I Installed two hard drives, formated them (JBOD) and put some files on it.
I then wanted to install ffp 0.5, copied fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz on the root of Volume_1, restarted the unit but fun_plug was not installed, apparently not even run (nothing created, no log file).
The installation is so easy I really don't see what I did wrong.
I noticed that Bit-torrent installation doesn't work and uPnP AV doens't show any file on my xbox ether (even if the device is detected).
I sniffed BT installation and saw that the easy search utility tries to map "\UNIT_IP\HDD_1\Nas_Prog\BT\bt" even on my unit the share is "Volume_1", not "HDD_1" (can't change it).
Appart from those problems, evry other aspect of the unit seems to work.
Any advice on what I did wrong when trying to install ffp ?

found it, I mounted the drives in the wrong order, so Volume 1 Is Drive 2 and vice-versa.
Time to play !

I've a slightly similar situation,
1 Drive installed in the LEFT bay (while looking at the front face of DNS-323)
I copied fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz on the root of Volume_1 >>> then Restarted
All I got was a file ffp.log stating the following:
**** fun_plug script for DNS-323 (2008-08-11 tp@fonz.de) **** Thu Nov 12 19:38:35 GMT 2009 ln -snf /mnt/HD_a2/ffp /ffp /ffp/etc/rc: Not found or not executable
I'm using a Macbook Air (Snow Leopard).. But I hope this is not the cause of the problem since I'm just copy pasting two files and the DNS-323 is gonna do its work.
Please help.
Thank you

1. When using only one disk, you should put in the right slot.
2. Are you sure, you've also copied fun_plug.tgz? And did you check that it's still fun_plug.tgz (not fun_plug.tar or whatever), and your browser didn't unzip it on the fly?

Ohhhh! The browser may have extracted the file, I see it as .tar
I'm downloading it again. and give it a try if it still doesn't work I'm going to swap the drive from LEFT to RIGHT.
I followed the manual regarding the hard drive bay position:
Note: If only one 3.5" SATA drive is available place this drive in the LEFT bay while the opening (front) of the DNS-323 is facing you.
Thank you very much for the help ![]()
Really appreciate it.

I followed the manual regarding the hard drive bay position:
If you add another disk later, in the right bay, fun_plug will stop working.

Ok now I've both files fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz on my Volume_1.
Do you suggest I:
1. Shut down DNS-323 using the web UI
2. Then swap drive bays
3. Turn DNS-323 Device back On
by that time I should be seeing ffp folder which means that fun_plug has been successfully installed.
*** IT WORKED! ***
