Thanks KRH for opening my eyes. My ISP blocks that port but with an open proxy I can download it now.

I think my ISP might be blocking me from downloading from your server.  I know I can access it from my school, so the next time I go I will download it from there and try it out at home.  I'll let you know how it goes when I can do that.

for block lists easy style, if you use the Transmission .NET GUI at http://code.google.com/p/transmission-remote-dotnet/
within that you can go "Options" "Remote Settings" then "Update Blocklist" and you are done.

Yes, should be included. You set the incomplete folder via transmission-remote:

   -c   --incomplete-dir         <dir>                Where to store new torrents until they're complete
   -C   --no-incomplete-dir                           Don't store incomplete torrents in a different location

Well, either I had overwritten the archive recently, or I packaged the wrong binaries from the very beginning! Very strange.

So strange because the one I downloaded instantly fixed the problem!  I'll test out this second one when I get back from vacation (about a week)..

The external-done-command is highly experimental and is not officially included in Transmission. I left it in by mistake.
The way it works is you set (in the settings.json, while Transmission is shut down) "external-done-command-enabled" to true and
"external-done-command" to a path to a script or executable file.

The script doesn't take any parameters, instead 4 environment variables are set:
T_ID -> the torrent ID
T_NAME -> the torrent name
T_SDIR -> the download folder
T_DONE -> the date when the download finished.

The script fires when the download is complete, not after seed ratio is reached.

Is it really that hard to once in a while go to the Web interface and clear out all finished torrents by hand? I even added a neat "Finished" filter on the filter bar

Anybody got a Mac equivalent to this Windows program?  (I just installed Transmission on my 323 so I'm still learning.)

Speaking of learning, what's the blacklist?  Please give me a URL to either BitTorrent 101 or a Transmission 101 that will get me out of the newbie mode.

Forgive me for not going through all 34 pages but I'm having what I imagine is a fairly common problem. My torrents are simply not downloading fast enough. My ISP limits at odd hours but after quite a bit of playing around I'm convinced it's definitely transmission / dns 323.

If I pop a torrent in to utorrent on my computer here, even if the download location is my dns 323, I can get a good 200kb/s. I then pop the same torrent in to transmission and get 30kb/s (if i'm lucky!). What's the deal?

This is even with ports forwarded to the DNS 323 and not to my computer.

Upload speed is max'd out but as I'm typing this I'm getting 9.5k/s down and 30k/s up (and that's only because I capped it at 30k/s up)

Any pointers greatly appreciated!

tested and ports are fine, have limited as you advised, makes a lot of sense!

I think my problem is that I have a fair few large torrents running simultaneously, I didn't think this would have a negative effect but if that's the explanation then fair enough. Thanks for the info! And thanks for doing all this!
