Default sharing protocol?

Whats the default sharing protocol that the dns-323 runs? samba???
also is there a way to capture the temp of this device using hddtemp from another system??

Yes.

No, unless the other system is also a ARM-based linux box. But I suppose you can use the ffp smartmontools for that.

after installing smartmoontools which command will it use? i been reading the man pages for a bit and unable to find how to get smartmontools to find my dns-323

Sorry, I misunderstood your initial question. I thought you wanted to copy hddtemp from another PC to your NAS to use it locally on the NAS.
For *that* purpose, using it locally on the NAS, you can use smartmontools.

There is no interface to ask the disk temp from another system, other than the appropriate webpage or a ssh/telnet shell.
