Hi everyone,
So it appears my second hard drive (HD_b*) has completely disappeared; it's no longer mounted, and /dev/sdb* don't respond to mount commands or anything (sda through sdp seem to exist in /dev/ regardless of whether there is any device presented to the nas).
I've tried running the fsck script here: http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fsck/ , and when I do, /dev/ contains only sda* (no sdb*).
As far as the web console is concerned, under the [status] tab, it says I have two drives but only lists the info for my working drive, as follows:
_____________________
Total Drive(s): 2
Volume Name: Volume_1
Total Hard Drive Capacity: 983454 MB
Used Space: 434916 MB
Unused Space: 548537 MB

Now, I've tried swapping the drives around, and it just switches whether the functional drive is in slot 1 or not, so I'm thinking (hoping) that this is a drive problem and not a DNS323 problem.
I was just hoping to diagnose what was up with the drive.
Is there anything else I should be checking out before I just throw a new drive in the bay?

You could try to check the 'misbehaving' drive with the disk manufacture's disk diagnostics utility.
Most of these utilities run on windows OS, so you would have to hook the drive up to another computer.
This would confirm the drive status. If the drive has failed, you might be able to get a replacement
drive under warranty, depending on the age of the drive.
