Hi Everyone,
I am looking towards getting a DLink 323 to act as a Squeezebox Server for a Logitech Squeezebox Audio Streaming Device.
Has anyone tried this ?
Maybe I should buy a different sort of Audio Streaming Device ?
I don't know.
Thanks

it works very well
the best option is to put everything on the usb device to avoid constant HD run.

My experience is that it works, but that's about it.
I had problems with disks not spinning down, very, very slow webinterface, scanning your collection takes forever, plugins hardly work, lot of delays when making selections on the remote control. To me it was not usable.
But i solved this by buying a Sheevaplug ($99). This little plugcomputer runs linux, consumes only 3 watt and, with 1,2 Ghz CPU and 512mb ram, has more than sufficient horsepower to run squeezeboxserver very well. You can leave the music files on the nas.

The main problem is the amount of memory - 64 mb is not approiate, the box begins swapping memory.
And the cpu does not have enough horse power to run Squeezecenter..
So if you want a box to run Squeezecenter - this is not the right choice.

, very, very slow webinterface,
You don't have to use it anyway

Do you scan the collection often ?

I have about 400GB of flac files and didn't experience delays that would make it unusable.
