DSM-G600, DNS-3xx and NSA-220 Hack Forum

First of all , hello to everybody. Im newbie here.  Actualy this is the first post. 

Got DSM-323 and need some help to make it work properly.
As I dont know anything from Linux, some of the issues or questions might feel like... so bear with me please.
But usually with these kind of questions Im a quick learner, and I believe in a few days It´ll all make sense to me.

My problem actually is the possibility to unrar files directly on the NAS. 
As I understood there is a way to do that, to use SSH type of connection. If I unrar files in windows enviroment, information goes back and forward through network and  this is unbelievably slow. 

To make it happen, I have installed Funplug and activated SSH channel and everythig seems work just fine.
I can log in to root with password i have set using putty, only thing is,  there is no folders when I look around...   
ls -l  gives me nothing. 
is there something I did wrong when installing fun plug, or is it some kind of obvious mounting issue that is so natural for linux users, so there is no mention of that in any guide.

... funplug installation guide ends with: "you can now install additional packages or (carefully) look around using the command line!"   
unfortunately I look and look, but dont see anything... I think Im blind.
