DNS-323, Twonky 5, Settings / License Problem!

I just bought the DNS-323 (updated to firmware 1.06)  and installed Twonky 5.  The first problem I had after installing Twonky was after about 2 minutes, I would lose the connection to the Twonky server and even my NAS drives.  The LEDs would turn an amber/pink color too when this would happen.  I was able to fix this by searching this forum and found where adding some lines to a Twonky *.ini file made the problem go away.

Now I'm having another issue.  The Twonky settings for the "share" paths and also my purchased license code do not seem to "stick" after a DNS-323 restart done through the D-Link Configuration Page or by pressing the front button on the NAS.

Is this normal?  Should I have to re-enter these each time I reboot the NAS?  I searched here and found some suggestions but none seemed to apply to my situation.  I searched some of the files in the Twonky directories and couldn't even find where these settings are stored.  Maybe that's part of my problem.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

Thanks, but that was the fix for the first problem I was having.

Read further on my original post.  The problem I have now is that my settings and license to not "stick" after a restart/reboot.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Ok, so I read those two threads you pointed to again.  Now the fix I did for the pink LEDs and NAS going "mad" was to add those few lines to my *.ini file.  I did NOT do the symbolic link change like you had.  Do you think if I do the symbolic link change instead, that will fix all of my issues?  Could you explain again in detail what you did?  And did you add the command to you fun_plug script so it does it each time it boots up?

Thanks again.

Re: DNS-323, Twonky 5, Settings / License Problem!

Well, to answer my own question.  The symbolic link fix, as suggested by devotee really works!!  It has fixed all of my current issues with Twonky.

So the fix suggested in that other thread to just add those lines to the *.ini file only fixes the pink LED and box going weird problem.  It does not fix the issue where the box loses it's configuration settings and license key.

Thanks again devotee!!!

Re: DNS-323, Twonky 5, Settings / License Problem!

The problem is that it seems that not all "user data" paths are stored in the ini file, so important runtime files (license data?) is still written in /root/.TwonkyMediaServer. You don't get the pink leds because the data written is not so big (the modified ini file points the database to use the hard disks and the license data might use very little space while the big database files -which caused the out of space problem and, subsequently, the pink leds problem- are in a "safe" place with enough space) but everytime you restart the NAS system, you lose everything you had in /root/.TwonkyMediaServer.

Nice to know the fix worked for you smile
