fail to connect do dns 323

Hi,

I've been using dns for quite a long time - plugged into my WRT54gl with only minor problems.
I've moved recently and had to rearrange the network because of new ISP.
In my current config I cannot access the dns even directly (i.e. direct cable).

What's supprising is that when I use Easy Search both volumes can be seen but I cannot map any.
After typing in the pass i receive "Set to dhcp client failed".
Cannot access web admin for dns by using the IP address as provided in Easy Search.

Any hints on this?

Re: fail to connect do dns 323

Are you using the same ip addressing scheme as before?
EasySearch locates the DNS-323 using broadcast technology so it doesn't use the ip address of the unit.

You could try resetting the device using the pinhole reset switch at the back, and then reconfiguring it - this does not normally affect your data.

Re: fail to connect do dns 323

no, the scheme is different.
I've just tried the reset and it didn't help so I guess I'm making a stupid mistake somewhere.

I've got the following devices:
1. ADSL modem (wifi) with lan cable [192.168.1.1]output which goes into...
2. the switch that gethers cables to all rooms and one cable that goes into
3. WRT54gl ethernet input [100.100.1.1]

it looks strange but it's a temp solution.
Anyway thought that pluging dns directly into my computer will allow me to access the files on it.

In fact under //192.168.1.103 I see Volume_1 Volume_2 and Printer folder and I can go into folders though all are marked as not accessible.

I cannot access dns as a device nor configure it nor mapping a drive.
best!

Re: fail to connect do dns 323

As the first step you need to sort out your ip addressing scheme - you need the computer AND the DNS-323 to be on the same logical network.

Re: fail to connect do dns 323

Yeah but still I cannot figure out why it doesn't work-
I've just plugged the DNS into the router and it works perfectly as 100.100.1.XX done automatically.
