I was using CuteFTP til recently informed that it is not as compatible as FTP Command, having changed I report that speed has increased and no problems connecting and maintaining a connection.
So, I am asking all of you to give your experiences with FTP Software andwhich one you believe to be the most compatible with the DNS-323?
----------------------------------------------
(Hmmm ... this sounds like a problem that I had some months ago. I gave up with CuteFTP as an FTP client (because of the same error) and used FTP Commander instead. The FTP Commander client works quite well with the DNS323.
I had other problems with CuteFTP and the DNS323 as well, like "losing all the directory contents". I isolated this to the CuteFTP client, not the DNS, as I could still see the directory entries with a standard drive map, or native FTP into the 323.
Lets just say - I figured CuteFTP and the DNS323 were not compatible.
I'm not sure why ppl put so much trust in shareware - try asking Cute why they get the time-out).

I m currently using FileZilla and WsFTP... Both however is not compatible much with DNS323.
In particular, I want the "preserver filetime" functionality but this isnt working..
Anyone knows what FTP client that DNS 323 can work with as far as this "preserver filetime" is concern?
I need to preserver the original filetime of each file - I am using DNS323 as my photo storage and the filetime is important for keeping track of the actual date/time the photos were taken....
thanks!

I use whatever's convenient at any given time - IE if the person at the other end is not familiar with ftp (downloads only) and quite frequently, Microsoft's command line ftp client.

Since I use Macs, I use Fugu from U of Michigan. <http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/>
It's a sftp GUI program, and it seems to work fine for me.
That said, I didn't know about FileZilla. So I downloaded it and took it for a test drive. I like it. Go with it for a ftp program.
