FAT32 not recognized by Windows Seven

Hi all,

I had a Hard drive plugged into USB port of DNS.
It was formatted into FAT32 partition by Windows but DNS wasn't able to write on it.

So I have formatted HD into FAT32 with DNS with command
mke2fs /dev/sdXn

After that, DNS can write on it.
But when I plug HD directly into USB port of my PC. Windows Seven recognize the HD and mount a drive but there is nothing on it.

Is there a way to format HD  into FAT32 compatible with Windows and DNS (R/W access) ?

Many thanks in advance for your help

mke2fs /dev/sdXn doesn't format fat32, but ext2. You should use mkdosfs.

Re: FAT32 not recognized by Windows Seven

Hello,

Sorry, in fact, I have used mkdosfs command.
When I plug the HD to my PC, Windows recognizes that the partition is a FAT32 one. But it sees an ampty folder.
