Hey all,
so i have had my nas for a while and have done nothing but love it from day one, after tweaking and setting it up the way i wanted to, just with ftp access and itunes server and such, ive pretty much left it alone.
that was till the ps3 update came out and allowed dnla access to stream media content.
well the dns323 is uPnP but not dnla. so I saught help and found it.
I used the tutorial at
http://www.shadowandy.net/_html/archives/tech/dns323/
to enable telnet and then
installed twonkymedia on my DNS-323 so i could get my PS3 a connection to the media on my nas.
verbatium,
i installed the first telnet thing it on that site, telnet ona dns323, and then i installed over that another telnet daemon.
from there i installed the twonkymedia by using the installer, and only real configuration change i made was i provided the ip address to the nas because i set it up as a static ip. I enabled uPnp on my belkin router, and disabled it on my nas, if that is any help.
BUT!!!
since last night, my NAS refuses to auto powerdown after the allotted 10 minutes. Which is what i have it set to do on the dlink firmware, 10 minutes to auto idle./powerdown.
Help. Is there anyway to reconfigure it to get it to power down?
I can't figure out why it isn't. Is it telnet/twonkymedia?
If so is there a way i can ammend the code(s) so it will idle unless it is sent a request? because for everything else, even itunes and uPnp Server, it will stay powered down and if i send a remote connection signal like ftp or a file request it will power back up.
i really dont know what to do... i mean should i back up the files i have on my nas and restore to factory default and like redo everything... im lost, please help. i cant delete any ofthe lnx_bin folder or other files... i feel im in over my head...
-------------edit---------------
another telnet daemon that i used from that site i mentioned...
http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/
installed it exactly as it said to in the first paragraph, and then i only read to the second line after that paragraph before i decided to stop reading and go back to shadowandy.
=/ help me

lol... another update,
if anyone knows anything about twonkyvision,
i clicked on Clients/Security->
Disabled "Enable sharing for new clients automatically"
Disabled any IP address that it already had listed in the table EXCEPT my Playstation 3's IP address.
changed it from Generic Media Reciever to Generic DLNA 1.5, as it needs DLNA to work, i figured that woudl be the best one to choose.
dunno if this was wise, but i am hoping it helps.
Also...
Sharing->
I set it to Rescan every 480 Minutes, or 8 hours.
sigh...
