I was trying to solve the, "You require permission from Unix User\root to make changes to this file", when I somehow created the above Volume 1_2. Please can anyone tell me how to remove this new volume?

Those volumes are just SMB shares. You can safely remove the by clicking on the "delete" symbol (trash bin).
You can create them by editing the setting in the "Network Access Settings" part of the page and clicking "Save Settings" afterwards.
Hope it helped.

great thanks, does this mean I had also created the Volume 1_1 in error from day one & I can infact delete it also without fear of braking the RAID 0?
I was trying to change the R/W permissions (see other thread) when this happened & I would really like to learn how not to do this again if you could tell me were I went wrong?

I gotta ask this - you're worried about breaking the RAID0??!! I take it you realise that everything stored on a RAID0 array is in danger of being lost in the blink of an eye?
To answer your question, the volumes created by the DNS-323 will be Volume_1 and Volume_2 - if there are other shares such as Volume 1_1 or 1_2, there were most likely created by something the user did - I won't venture an opinion on whether it was in error or not - and I'll suggest that you check it's contents before deleting it, just to be on the safe side.
You can most likely delete it without breaking the array, and since, presumably, you are aware of the risks involved in using a RAID0 array and already have the data backed up somewhere, I see no reason not to delete the share.
Out of curiosity - why did you choose to run RAID0?
