Using DNS-323 / CH3SNAS as Cardserver

Dear all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll give at a shoot...

I own a CH3SNAS (=DNS-323) and would like to use it as a Cardserver for PayTV to access my CanalDigitaal-card on my local network. To achieve this, I tried several binaries of NewCS, OScam and CCcam, unfortunately without success.

Depending on the binary, I either get a syntax error (probably because the binary was compiled for another platform) or a message that the file cannot be found even though it exists (permissions are set to 755). Why do I get this "not found" message? Is the binary not suitable for the ARM-cpu in the CH3SNAS? Can I compile it by myself?

Did anyone managed to sucessfully install NewCS, OScam, CCcam or similar?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Re: Using DNS-323 / CH3SNAS as Cardserver

Softcams with sources available like OSCAM should compile without problem. Don't think any binary only stuff like cccam exists for this platform - so no luck here.

Biggest issue you might face is the requirement of a usb/serial driver to connect your card reader. The required ftdi driver is not in any of the standard firmware kernel. Remember reading people have made attempts to install it as a module but not sure to what avail.

Bottomline there are ways to get this running if you are really keen about it but this might not be the optimal platform for the job. Getting a used adsl router or the like that can be patched from ebay for a few bucks is probably the easier way to get you going. But up to you.

Re: Using DNS-323 / CH3SNAS as Cardserver

Thanks for your replay, Kai.

Since I haven't done a lot with linux in the past, I guess it will be to hard to get this up-and-running. I'll follow your advice and buy a Fritzbox since there are already many binaries available for this device.

Thanks for your help and your explanation.
