Accessing DNS-323 music via the Roku Digital Video Player (Roku Netfli

Stream DNS-323 music to a Roku Digital Video Player (Roku Netflix box) client

This mod will allow you to stream music (and eventually video) from your DNS-323 to a Roku Digital Video Player.

Download and instal FFP 0.5

Download and Install Python

Download and install "My Music" client (on your Roku) and server (on your DNS-323).
Follow the instructions in the Read Me.
You will be required to register for and download the Roku SDK.

Notes:

- When installing the My Music app I completed the Client config on my windows box via the included springboard application/script because the DNS-323 python compile doesn't include TK. Manual setup works without any issues.

- The My Music app is only a few days old and will continue to be enhanced. Keep an eye on the Roku DVP forum thread and git repository for new versions.

- The Roku SDK is very new and quite a few people are working on media streaming apps. I'll post any interesting developments I see on the DVP forums.

Re: Accessing DNS-323 music via the Roku Digital Video Player (Roku Netfli

Does anyone know how to make the python script auto start after a reboot?

I tried something based on some other instructions for starting something else, but it resulted in breaking telnet.

My linux is...well, barely functional, so please be specific.

Thank you!

Why wouldn't you just install the add-in on the d-link site?

I've been thunking about trying out the roku to take advantage of lossless flac.
What I'm still not quite clear on is whether this can be 6 or 8 channel lossless flac or some more limited version of the data stream.

Re: Accessing DNS-323 music via the Roku Digital Video Player (Roku Netfli

Loading an addon from the vendor website was a good thought.  I looked, but I didn't see anything related to Roku support, or 'automatic script starting' support, or anything like that.  Let me clarify my question:

I have installed fun_plug and Python support on my DLINK, and the 'My Media' channel to my Roku, so I can successfully stream video to my Roku, and it is being served from the DLINK box.  But, in order to start the service on the DLINK, I have to manually, via Telnet from a PC, start the python script with this command (run from the directory that the roku server stuff is located):

python rss_server.py

Is there a way to make this command run automatically when the DLINK boots?  An analogy would be putting something in the Autoexec.bat file on a Dos system, so it runs on startup.

It's probably REALLY EASY, but I'm not fluent enough in LINUX to figure this out, without breaking fun_plug on my DLINK.
