Samba en logging

I try to set in my DNS-323 up logging within SAMBA what is happening, who is using it ...
I did some modification, but it does not seems to work. The logfile is not created as described in smb.conf
I could use some help.

Filip

By the way : great site, find almost everything I need  ;-)

-------------------------------------------------------------
Version firmware : 1.07
Version samba : 3.0.24

I modified the ffp so the smb.conf file is copied to /etc/samba (as the DNS-323 is booted)
I added the next lines in de global section so logging is on and the log file will we written to my first hard disk with name sambalog

================== BOF - smb.config ===================================
[ global ]

# debugging
log level = 3
log file  = /mnt/HD_a2/sambalog
max log size = 100
debug timestamp = yes
================== EOF - smb.config====================================

Than I restart samba with command : smb restart. I get message (what seems ok to me) :
$Shutting down SMB services :
$Shutting down NMB services :
$Starting SMB services :
$Starting SMB services :
