How to Determine Version #s of Installed Programs/Pkgs

I just updated Transmission to 2.01 using the instructions on this site.  However, the instructions mention checking the latest version numbers of curl and uclibc.

How do you check for version numbers of curl, uclibc, etc.?  Is there a universal program/pkg that lists the version numbers of installed software?

TIA.

With Optware you can use /opt/bin/ipkg list_installed command, dont know for ffp but you can find all installed packages in /ffp/var/packages, or maybe use the -V command ex ./ffp/bin/curl -V

Pejn,  both suggestions did the trick.  Thanks for showing an olde dog some new tricks.

And, yep, the -V variable is in the "man curl" on my Mac.  Should have looked there first.  Well now I know.

Thanks, again.
