Re: DNS-323 and WD HD TV Live Panasonic Plasma G20

I have this set up, different TV. But I have being using the DNS as a network share instead of the Media Share on the WDTV. I have had no problems, fast speeds, can play 1080p movies no problem over the network. Sorry if this is not wha tyou want to know as I'm having a hard time understanding what you want to know.

Any TV can work with the WDTV player essentially.

Thanks stealthdeath,
english is one of my mayor weakness !!!!

I try to explain better: I bought a Tv set (Panasonic TXP50G20E) this TV has a DNLA support; I switch on the UPnP support on DNS-323, and the TV "saw" the NAS (I read MAC number, etc.).

When the TV is connected with the NAS, showed me 3 folders (Video, Photo, Music) but those 3 folders it doesn't exist on the NAS, infact if I try to open one, showed me a message like "Server not connected".

So, I try to create a folder with the same name of the folder showed by the TV, but nothig happens.

It's like the TV it doesn't able to read the folder present on the NAS.

Probably because the name of main folder is "Volume_1" and is not possible to create another main folder called "Video, Photo, etc.)

Thats way I decided to buy a WD TV HD Live, to play my file direct from the NAS

I hope now is more clear

Re: DNS-323 and WD HD TV Live Panasonic Plasma G20

When you use the uPnP option on the NAS instead of a Network share, it searches the NAS for any Music, Video and Pictures. So if you add some video to your NAS in a folder say Volume_1/Media/Video/, the NAS will scan for this and add it to the Video folder when you use DNLA.

If you have a WDTV, I would suggest not using the TV's DNLA support, but just use the WDTV player and connect to your TV.

In your WDTV, go to Video > Network Shares, and you should see your DNS323 there. I would recommend this as the folder tree will look the same way as you have setup your NAS.

Eg, If you have Volume_1/Media and in Media you have TV, Movies, Music, then when you go to Network Share version of the DNS, you will see those three folders TV, Movies and Music. It makes things easier to organize in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again Stealthdeath, now I'm litte bit more confused than before !! I try to ask you some questions step by step :

"When you use the uPnP option on the NAS instead of a Network share, it searches the NAS for any Music, Video and Pictures"
I foud UPnP but I didn't find Network share on my DNS-323

"So if you add some video to your NAS in a folder say Volume_1/Media/Video/, the NAS will scan for this and add it to the Video folder when you use DNLA."
What do you mean ? The folder you mentionated (Volume_1/Media/Video/) I have to create or already exist in the NAS ? If exist, where is it ? If not, maybe the DNLA protocol looking for a folder called as you said ?

I havent still not buy the WD, thats way I wasting time to try a solution for my TV set (also because it must to work !!!); anyway I keep in mind your suggestion for the right configuration when I'll owner of WD.
Regards
