Request for Fonz to upgrade smartmontools version

Dear Fonz

Please could you update the smartmontools package for FFP to the latest version? I'd like to make use of the USB support using the JMicron interface, but it's not available in the version in the packages directory...

Thanks!

Re: Request for Fonz to upgrade smartmontools version

Wow! Thanks Fonz, that's fantastic.

While I think about it, the version of fdisk within Busybox causes a segfault. I've managed to download an alternative from here
http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=35163
And this works fine. I'm not sure how I'd replace the version within FFP with this new version, or if that is something you can update?

Thanks again.

Use rm & cp

OK, my Linux knowledge is limited. Where is the replacement file supposed to live? When I issue "fdisk --help" I see it is part of busy box rather than a standalone file?

Re: Request for Fonz to upgrade smartmontools version

Excellent. That all works. Thanks very much for your help!

Although the new smartctl now recognises the disk through the USB interface and prints its model number, it says SMART is not supported. I guess the chipset isn't letting the correct commands through. Smartctl says it's opened a SCSI device. Oh well sad

I assume the 323 isn't expecting a particular version of fdisk to do it's internal drive configuration and that it's safe to have these executables over-ride the usual ones :-S

Thanks again

Jamie
