Hi all!
Background: I'm newbie with Linux commands but follow the instructions guide I've managed to install fun_plug, transmission and other fun stuffs in my DNS-323.
Problem: I'm experience very slow speeds downloading torrent using Dlink BitTorrent client (125KB/s at maximum) so I've decided to give Transmission a shoot but without luck (200-250KB/s maximum).
Using the same Port and Torrent at my computer i've got 600-700KB/s.
I've checked Port Forwarding, Max peers connections (60 in Transmission and I'm getting only 15 at most), Download limit.
So where is the problem? DNS-323 can't handled a lot of TCP ports open? Is there some command that I've missed to run on the box?
Is this normal since I'm using a small box processor? Transmission is using 7-12% of the CPU so I don't think that this is a problem.
I'm using the best Torrent app for DNS-323?
Thanks

Slow harddrive? I get over 1 MB/s with transmission and WD 1 TB Green series.

Don't think so.
I have two WD 1.5 TB Green 7200 rpm.
Can you share your settings file?

OOTB - transmission should do pretty well for you. I get about 700KB/s, same as on my PC.
It really depends on the ISP (throttling), the source feed, other traffic on your network, etc.
It could also depend on what else you have running on your DNS323. The media servers (particularly the dlink ones) are resource pigs.
If you test the port and it is open in the firewall, then few of the settings will make any difference assuming you have not limited the d/l speed

Yes, I do not limited the d/l speed and actually since I'm testing the same torrent with the same trackers on both PC and DNS-323 it should only be the DNS-323 and not my ISP.
I was looking that I have only a few peers connected (usually about 15 no more than 20) and in my PC I have 90 peers. This could be the problem.
Anyone knows how to configure this?

I never seem to go over 25 (often just 5 or so) so I doubt that is the issue. I just run the defaults other than the port and u/l limits.
All of the options are explained on this page

Surfer10: I have the same problem.
Any solution yet?
I think it has something to do with the slow processor on the DNS.. maybe a decrease in connections will help?
Here are some things that have definitely helped me:
Turn off LPD
Turn off uDP
Set Upload Limit to 30
Set Download Queue Limit to 10 (which doesn't seem to do its job sometimes)
If you know of anything that can help, let us know..
