Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
I tried to install the fun_plug, but it didn't work. I copied the files fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz into the Volume_1 directory and rebooted my storage dns-323. After rebooting there was no directory but a new file ffp.log which i opened with the editor. After retrying there i could see the following text in the log:
**** fun_plug script for DNS-323 (2008-08-11 tp@fonz.de) ****
Wed Sep 15 19:09:13 DST 2010
ln -snf /mnt/HD_a2/ffp /ffp
/ffp/etc/rc: Not found or not executable
Because I don't know what to do with this situation, I hope you can help me.
Thanks

Doublecheck your fun_plug.tgz. I think it has the wrong name, and is ignored for that reason. BTW, the name is case-sensitive.

It's the right file and the ride name. i cant understand why i doesn't work.

I am having problems installing as well. I copied the files to my Volume 1 on my dns 321. rebooted and nothing happens. Is there a way to force the script to run? Does it matter if I already have other files on the volume (previous backups)? Do I need to have my drives formatted in a particular way? any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Rebooting, if the files are named correctly, is all that is required. You can have other files present and there is no need to format the drives. Ensure you do not have a ".txt" extension or some other default value that some browsers / operating systems add when you download a file.

everything is name correctly. there is no txt extension. I have been able to extract the tarball with an un-archiving utility and all the files are there... the script just won't run.
here is a screenshot.

The fun_plug script is running but it is not finding fun_plug.tqz. If it had found the file, the script would have printed:
* Installing /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.tgz ...
Instead, displaying the /ffp/etc/rc message indicates that it did not find the file.
How did you copy the files? What OS are you running on the machine where you copied the files from?
The fun_plug script should have really located the fun_plug.tgz file. The test that the fun_plug script uses to locate the fun_plug.tgz is that it exists and is readable.
You might try using FTP to copy the fun_plug.tgz file.
No need to touch the fun_plug file - it is executing.
Did you reboot more than once? If you did, you might be looking in the wrong spot in the log file. The fun_plug script deletes the fun_plug.tgz file after it finds and unpacks it.
