As green as they come

Hi all, I have a DNS 323 on 1.09 and have had it suggested I try Alf-F for NFS as my ESX host dont seem to want to connect.
So I have downloaded Alt-f-0.1B3.tar and thats as far as I have got...LOL

What is fun plug and how do i get it....i have little more than zero experience with linux GUI's and even less with linux CL

wink Did you notice the line at the top of the page - it reads ...

Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Look at the top and click the link for the wiki, expand howto and look for fun_plug - and get ready to gain some experience with command line linux.

Good luck.

The short version of what fun_plug (ffp 0.5 at least) is:

An extremely easy way to gain access (telnet) to the operating system (linux) after which you can modify settings, load additional programs and perform lots of other actions that otherwise you would not be able to do.

If the out-of-the-box functions are all you need, then ffp isn't necessary, but it could help increase performance, reduce resource usage, make the device more stable, etc.

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5

Re: As green as they come

ESX Vmware needs Kernel Space NFS, it will not work with Userspace NFS.
cause userspace does not offer  READDIRPLUS command. So in Kernel the NFS function must be enabled to have it run with ESX systems.
