DNS-323 with Firmware 1.08 - Fan powerdown after usage

Hi all,

searched a little bit here for similar issues, but didn't find anything that matched my issue so here goes:
after using the DNS-323 for printing, for instance (USB printer attached to it and using DLink Shareport), the fan kicks up and just doesn't power down anymore, even when DNS-323 isn't doing anything for like 30 minutes.

In Tools>Power Management, I have the fan control set to Auto (Off/Low/High). I've also tried the Low/High setting, but I don't want to keep the fan running if it's not necessary, especially because often the unit is just sitting there doing nothing and it doesn't make sense for the fan to be working. System temperature is around 34 to 38º.

One thing I noticed is that if I go into Tools>Power Management and hit save after the fan is working (needlessly), it actually seems to read the setting again and powers down the fan, but why it doesn't do it automatically (as it should) is beyond me.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: DNS-323 with Firmware 1.08 - Fan powerdown after usage

There are numerous posted fan issues. The first thing to try is to do a factory reset. This will not affect your files on the disks, but you will have to enter your configuration information again (don't load a saved configuration file as this defeats the purpose). This may resolve your fan problem.

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5
Useful Links: Transmission, Transmission Remote, Automatic
