Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
I lost the configuration webpage on my dns-323 long ago. I haven't backed it up to try restoring and upgrading firmware.
I just found out anonymous access is enabled, and I'm not sure which file(s) to edit to configure the builtin ftp.
I tried disabling it (the dns-323 ftp) but it seems to re-enable everytime it boots up. So instead I'd like to enable/disable some users
and get anonymous login disabled. I'd appreciate any help, since I cannot disable/enable through website its been difficult to find correct file(s).
Thanks again

in /etc you will find a number of files that start with ftp* and a pure-ftp.conf file. Possibly pf_param.conf as well.
I'd suggest working on getting the UI working again properly though.
Note that some of the files above get copied from ram on each boot which makes editing them tricker. Check /etc/rc.sh for details on which ones get copied.

there is ftpaccess, ftpconversion, ftpgroup, ftpmaxnumber but no pure-ftp.
Is that the type of server used in the dns-323?

Yes, it originates here
rc.sh:ln -s /sys/crfs/bin/pure-ftpd /usr/bin/pure-ftpd
Try loading the admin console manually
/web/webs
and check the system log with "dmesg" (although I can't confirm that webs writes anything there, but worth a shot)

could there be changes in between firmwares? There is no /sys/crfs/bin/pure-ftp... Or any file called "pure-ftp".
I'm not using latest firmware. I'd like to upgrade but I can 't backup/restore my current files because things are tight.
Maybee there's a workaround for the website (dlink's default) site asking me to format the hd again?

Not sure, all mine are at 1.08. You could try the firmware update anyway. I won't get into the reasons why you should backup your data regardless

I have a tb in my system and it IS the backup for alot of things. I backed up the major portion (eg. config, settings, logs) but I simply don't have means to save the movies, tv, audio, etc..

ok. I found a "backup disk" and will all that work.... I didn't need the bloody thing. I upgrade the system without formatting, loosing data.
Now my only problem is getting fun_plug working on v1.0.9 firmware and I have the ipkg/ffp directory \\ stuck \\ in filesystem permission hell and
need to figure that out. In case anybody wants to try. All I did was removed the hard-drives, upgraded the firmware, re-plugged them. It didn't ASK
for RAID type or anything. And once the HDs were installed I had proper access to the config website - correctly setup ftp, av, itunes, quotas, email/logs...... on and on.

No need to remove the drive to do a firmware update.

yes, you're right. but typically (at least in my experience) doing so will format the drive(s). Besides.... It was the only way to go from the raid wizzard into the main menu and update firmware to GET to the options.
