Make settings.json changes persistent

Everytime I edit the settings.json with vi and then restart transmission, the settings are overwritten.  I'm trying to set the incomplete-dir-enabled attribute to true.  Is it a daemon command or something that I'm missing?

Thanks

Re: Make settings.json changes persistent

As stated in the Transmission thread, you have to shut down Transmission, make the changes, then start it again.

Configuration statements can also be sent via the remote interface, but in general, it is easier to edit the file.

Re: Make settings.json changes persistent

Tried that.  Twice.

I got it to stick with 'kill -SIGHUP `pidof transmission-daemon`' so we're all good.  I would have thought stopping, changing, then restarting would have worked but for some reason it didn't for me.  Thanks for the reply.

Re: Make settings.json changes persistent

The only reason it would not have worked is if one or more of the threads were not shutdown. It is always a good idea to check using

ps -ef

or

ps -ef|grep transmission-daemon

Most likely the case.  Thanks
