DNS-323 - accessing admin panel via Internet.

Hi all,

First of all, thanks for reading this post and apologies if this has been posted but I am unable to find any resource on my problem (on this forum and google as well).

What I want to do is to access the DNS-323 admin panel from outside my home's network (so that I can check on the status, etc).

Here's some information on my current setup at home, hardware and also what ports my ISP are blocking.

I will also list what I can access from my office to my NAS box back at home.

1. ISP is blocking the following ports: 80, 21, 25, 443
2. ISP IPs are dynamic.
3. Currently I have signed up with DYNDNS.ORG service and configured that in the NAS admin panel.
4. I can access the admin panel via IP (Local LAN static IP set for NAS box - 10.0.1.4 ) and also on my home network, http://xxx.dyndns.org
5. I have setup WebHop on DYNDNS to have http://yyy.dyndns.org point to http://xxx.dyndns.org:8080
6. I'm using an Apple Airport Extreme N router.
7. Home machines are mainly a mixture of Macs & PCs.
8. NAS box has fun_plug (full package), SSHD, transmission, clutch installed.

I have and can successfully access the following from my office (all these ports have been forwarded to other ports)

1. FTP
2. SSH
3. Transmission web panel via http://xxx.dyndns.org:1234

With DYNDNS service installed and signed up. I have tried to perform a port forward to 8080 on my Airport Extreme, since my ISP blocks port 80, I would like to access the admin panel of the NAS box via http://xxx.dyndns.org:8080 but I am unable to do so.

How do I go about access the admin panel from outside my home's network via port 8080?

Is there a way to trick my network or even the NAS box to serve the admin page on port 8080 instead of port 80?

Any help would be much appreciated. I've been struggling with this for more than a week already. :\

Thanks again!

Re: DNS-323 - accessing admin panel via Internet.

OK, after trolling further this is what I've gathered thus far.

1. NAS Admin page loads on port 80
2. Performed kickwebs.sh
3. Start lighttpd on port 80
4. So now, the admin page will load on the next port which is port 81.

I've yet to forward port 81... so will do so when I'm home tonight to try this out.

*Fingers crossed, hope it'll work this time*

Re: DNS-323 - accessing admin panel via Internet.

You should be able to do that using port 81, or even port 80 if you wish regardless of the fact your ISP blocks port 80.

Choose any port you want. 2000 for example. Set it up in your router to forward that port number to the ip of your DNS323 and whatever port the admin page runs on.

So as an example:
[router ip:2000] --> [dns323:81]

From inside your network (at home) use the [dns323 ip:81] value and externally (at work) use the [router:ip:2000] value.

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5

Re: DNS-323 - accessing admin panel via Internet.

Right, if you set your external port to 2000 and your internal to 81 (both in the forwarding settings of your router) you will be able to access as FunFiler says.

I have SSH setup on port 22 internally, but externally I hit port 5555.  I believe the Airport Extreme has this capability.
