Is this normal? I have an dns323 with 2 Seagate 2TB in Raid 1 in which I just installed Mediatomb on (not sure which version but its from the latest funplug 5.0). I have over 22000 .wav files and and it's been 12 hours and not even half way done... I used to have Twonky 4.4.1 on the dns, it ran fine and was much faster at scanning but I maxed out the memory. Does mediatomb have a maximum as well???
All help is appreciated....

Mediatomb was too slow for me on the 323 as well. I run it on a faster SheevaPlug that mounts the DNS-323 disks to get at the media files. I know that is not much help, but that's my experience.

Good to know I'm not the only one.. I'm surprised by the scan time difference between Twonky and Mediatomb... I wonder if their are newer versions of Twonky Media that would easily install on the DNS-323 that does not have a Maximum memory issue like the earlier version

Well I finally got tired of waiting for the MediaTomb scan to finish, ridiculously slow. I removed MediaTomb and installed Twonky 6.0.30. Twonky has been up for less than 30mins and the scan is a 3rd of the way done. Hopefully the maximum memory/songs issue has been addressed in the newer version. I had to add symbolic links after the installation for it to work. Now all I need to do is pay for it after I verify the max mem/song issue is fixed....

Well is was also skipping entire directories as well. I was more familiar with Twonky Media and it seemed to work better for me but the downside is a I need to buy a license. Perhaps MediaTomb would have been better had I had more time to put into it... Also, this version of Twonky did not complain about a max. memory issue and did see all of my 22,000+ wav files....
