DNS-323 Keeps Shutting Off

My DNS-323 keeps shutting off. It will run for several hours after I turn it on and it seems to work fine in terms of the drives, but then it always turns off.

Is there a way for me to find out why it's doing this - like a log file or something?

If not, anyone know what is the likely cause?  I'm guessing it's either a drive, the power supply or the fan, but I don't really know how to narrow it down.

Thanks

Re: DNS-323 Keeps Shutting Off

Could be a temperature issue?  Do you have FFP0.5 installed?

If so, login via ssh or telnet, and do

chmod a+x /ffp/start/syslogd.sh

to get the logging going.  Then, you may try to install the smartmontools (run command 'funpkg -i /ffp/var/packages/smartmontools-5.39.1-1, or whatever version you have in that folder) and then run reboot the NAS and run "smartctl -d marvell -a /dev/sd*" to get a temp reading and some drive health stats (or just check the web interface of the unit on the Status tab).  Also check space available on the mounts using the 'df' command.  Make sure /dev/root/ is not 100% in use (or growing over time).

Aside from it being a drive health problem, others may have some options, but I think first and foremost you need to back your data up to an external drive from the DNS..
