I have prepared a simple twonkyserver 6.0.23 pack with explanations inside.
This explains you how to change the directory of the twonkyserver installation, by default : /mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/twonky
The License is not included but the simple fact of rebooting the DNS-323 makes the 30 days counter restarting from Day 1.

What does that take up in memory per track.?
I'm still using 4.4.18 as that only takes 0.5KB per track, much less than the other later version I tried, version 5 something.
With over 20,000 tracks I'm trying to keep the memory down.

I reinstall Twonky, now it's work but I loose my samba (SMB) share.
Any ideas ?

Hi Jobine,
Looks like I have typed an extra letter on my keyboard before I saved the document, my appologies for that.
Just uninstall twonky with nassetup.exe in the orignal package. Then before reinstalling it, edit the file called "install.nas" and take off the "2" typed by error to have following command line :
RC=/mnt/HD_a2/ffp/start/starttwonky.sh [b]instead of[/b] RC=/mnt/HD_a2/ffp/start/2starttwonky.sh

if you are loosing the SMB share it means you have not followed the steps in the explanations, here is below the reason :
On the DNS-323, /tmp, /var and /mnt are in the root partition (/). The root partition is entirely in RAM and has total size 9.7MB.
By default Twonky 6.0.xx is built to log to /tmp/TwonkyMediaServer-log.txt and other data is stored in /var and /mnt.
Two problems:
# 1/ The available space in / is quickly filled, the DNS-323 stops serving files and the status lights on the front go pink.
# 2/ Any saved twonky configuration is lost after a reboot, including the license key.
So we need to change the Twonky configuration to store this data on the big disks instead. This is easy to do by editing the starttwonky.sh script
Now, for you to avoid the SMB crash, just telnet the DNS and go to /ffp/start and chmod -x starttwonky.sh.
reboot your DNS-323, the SMB share is back as the twonkyserver media will have not started and crashed.
In the installation process, do not forget to untick the box "start server" as you need to edit the file starttwonky.sh before running the application.

I erase ushare, ushare-refresh and Twonky on my server.
I reinstall Twonky
I go in the fun_plug (in /mtn/HD_a2/) and erase the last line "/mnt/HD_a2/ffp/start/starttwonky.sh"
I go in the starttwonky.sh file : (in /mnt/HD_a2/ffp/start/) I replace the last line by
"/mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/twonky/twonkymedia -logfile /mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/twonky/TwonkyMediaServer-log.txt -appdata /mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/twonky/appdata &"
I restart the DNS-323 server...
WORKS : Smb share, access to DNS-323 via web
DON'T WORKS : Telnet (windows open and automatically close), Twonky web site (but see the favicon in the browser)
I can't chmod -x starttwonky.sh without Telnet !!

regarding telnet, I do not know why it is not working for you; during all my tests, telnet was working for me.
You must have done something extra in the process that i am not aware of.
Concerning the license, a simple reboot of the DNS server is enough, finally the refresh just depends of your settings

I have the same thing in term of settings, I have input -1 as value for the data refresh.
When it is rebooting, is the time counter for the trial period changing ?

The running time of the server reset, but not the number of days.
Do you try the transcoding ? Twonky transcode the MKV files ? When I go to Transcoding, all choices are grayed

Normally, when you reboot the DNS itself, the counter reset, at least it does on mine.
Looks like the software reboot is not doing the same than the hardware reboot.
Regarding the MKV, I havent given a try yet, I will have a look at it this weekend but in the mean time, if you look at the official website of twonky, here are the format supported :
Music: MP3, WMA, WAV, 3GP, M4A, MP4, LPCM, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, MP2, AC3, MPA, MP1, AIF
Photo: JPEG, PNG, TIF, BMP
Video: MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG2-TS, MPEG4, AVI, WMV, VOB, DivX, 3GP, VDR, ASF, MPE, DVR-MS, Xvid, M1V, M4V
I don't see the Matroska format listed above but after some quick searches on google, few people are saying it is compatible so I am bit confused. It is maybe depending of the version, I have to check this out.

Do you use the files in the zip files ?
or a special installation method (modifcation in the starttwonky.sh, uncheck start server and installation directory) as you did for version 6.0.23 ?
My problem is the same as the previous version, I lose my samba shares after a certain time and Twonky will not start.

The problem could come from a wrong chmod on a directory ?

there is a special section for the dns-323 which refers to "fun_plug" instead of "ffp"

HELP! I have tried everything but I can edit the starttwonky.sh file. It says I don't have permissions, I have tried to change them via chmod but nothing workings. I cant delete the file, nothing!
Can anyone help!??
