N00b questions about my DNS-323

Hi all, just a couple (hopefully) easy questions about my box...

On the front there are three icons/lights in a row.        Disk1 -- network activity -- Disk2

My Disk2 light constantly flashes. Is this an error code or something indicating drive failure or an issue with the array?

Also, I cannot find anywhere in the web UI a place that displays the array health or any information regarding disk rebuilding if I were to pull a drive and replace it. Does that information get displayed anywhere?

Thanks for any help you can offer,
David

Re: N00b questions about my DNS-323

Intermittent flashing indicates activity on the drives.

Go to the Status page. For a RAID setup, you will see something like:
Total Drive(s):  2

Volume Name:  Volume_1
Volume Type:  RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining:  Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  983453 MB
Used Space:  361140 MB
Unused Space:  622313 MB

"Completed" means that the drives are in sync. "Degraded" means they are out of sync and you need to rebuild. If rebuilding, you will see "Time Remaining xxx"

The Status for non-raid looks like this:
Total Drive(s):  2

Volume Name:  Volume_1
Volume Type:  Standard
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  1475704 MB
Used Space:  809014 MB
Unused Space:  666690 MB

Volume Name:  Volume_2
Volume Type:  Standard
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  1475704 MB
Used Space:  826742 MB
Unused Space:  648961 MB

Re: N00b questions about my DNS-323

Hi FunFiler,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am used to seeing both drive lights flashing at the same time but just recently I am seeing only the right side like flash at very regular intervals while the left light is solid. This goes on for hours while no one is accessing the drives and there is no noise.

When i am accessing the drives, I usually see both lights flashing at seemingly random intervals while the drives make noise.

Thanks for the tip on the status of the drive rebuild/health indicators!
