Hi,
I've developped a mobile application able to connect to your D-Link DNS 323/321 and manage your downloads. It is called "D-Load" and is available on several platforms:
- For iPhone/iPod : http://itunes.apple.com/app/d-load/id418792433?mt=8
- For iPad and iPhone/iPod : http://itunes.apple.com/app/d-load-hd/id418792502?mt=8
- For Android 1.6 and after, on the Android Market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.patey.DLoad)
- For Symbian Series 60 5th edition (touchscreen, ex: Nokia 5800) / Symbian^3 (ex: Nokia N8): http://store.ovi.com/content/103707
D-Load allows you to connect to your DNS 323/321 and manage your downloads. You will be able to add or remove files, but also check the speed or pause downloads.
The included web browser will help you choose the file you wish to download with a single touch, and the smart search engine will allow you to look for any kind of file. New search engines can be added dynamically, so you will never miss your good old finder. Mininova is included by default!
Morever, the built-in RSS reader helps you keep track of your software updates. You will be able to add new RSS feeds to D-Load and be notified of new files to download.
Afraid to open your DNS 323/321 access to the Internet? D-Load handles both HTTP and HTTPS and is capable of connecting to it through a SSH Server, so it is completely secure!
A complete description is available on my website as well as other screen captures: http://dev.patey.net/dload.html
Any comments are welcome !
Thanks,
Jerome

Hi,
Which Symbian version is running on the E63 ? I do support Symbian Series 60 5th edition (that is, the Series 60 touchscreen), and Symbian ^3.

Jérôme

Please make free version of your application available. Otherwise it not nice to advertise commercial applications here. Google ad's are for this.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have tried free version with ads in the past, and that's not a good choice for this kind of application, because you just launch it, launch a download, then exit it. It's not an app you leave launched and click on ads.
This thread is there because some people *want* this kind of app, and often, don't know where to ask for suggestions or bug fixes. This is why I've posted here.
If you don't agree with that, could we continue by email (dev@patey.net) to find a solution ?
Thanks,
Jérôme

Obviously your goal is to make money and just that's why its not nice to advertise it here. You either make free version available here or we are foreced to remove this thread.
Lazy people can still download their from app stores an pay small fee for it. If people like it then they will happily support you and pay for it. Otherwise google ad's are for advertising.

Hi,
And if I offer the app for a few days, "In cooperation with the DSMG600 forum, D-Load is free for 3 days", would that be fine for you ?
Thanks,
Jérôme

While I don't really mind that you sell your app, I don't like to see closed source stuff advertised here. This forum is about opening the boxes, to understand and modify. Closed source apps don't fit.

Hi,
Well, E63 isn't touchscreen, so my application won't work anyway. And I guess that if the app was available for your device, you would have liked to see the topic here where you could have asked for help and request features ;-)
Cheers,
Jérôme
PS: Admins, what do you think about the free app for a few days as a "Thanks for leaving my topic here" ;-) ?

I really don't want to flame here, but if you think you can tell how things could have been if....
I spend some minute to tell you how things really are by my side:
I took a look at your app and I thought it was a good idea, went to the ovi store just to find that it's not avaible for my platform ,
then I saw the fee and the lack of source. I posted here just to let you know, in my mind I intented to say
also
something about the closed nature of the app but I let go because I didn't want to sound too much pedantic..
Really..I use linux for 12 years now and I'm all for opensource software in any case I can
Good luck with your apps , they seems fine anyway

Yeah, well, I think it's good for people who have a D-Link, that's why I posted about it here...

Never said it was or was not good, it just isn't free and/or open source. Your posts are just free advertising, same on the DLink forum. Maybe you should pay the site admins to allow your thread to remain. I don't try and flog my company or products here.
