Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Mac OS X Time Machine & DNS-323

Just bought a DNS 323. Currently configured with a single drive but I plan to set it up as a RAID 1 soon.

First, this has been possibly asked already and I apologize. I looked but couldn't get my issue resolved.

I installed fun_plug, then netatalk and avahi. I created the sparsebundle.

I can connect from the Finder to the Volume_1. The Time Machine backups occur properly. When the backups are ongoing, I can access Time Machine. However, in other times, attempting to access it gives me " Your Time Machine backup disk can't be found".

Help is appreciated.

Re: Mac OS X Time Machine & DNS-323

If you are using the most recent version of netatalk available through ffp, then you do not need to pre-create the sparsebundle.

Moreover, if you have avahi setup correctly, then your mac should "see" the DNS correctly in order to mount the Time Machine volume.  If avahi is not setup correctly, then it is hit or miss if your Mac can "see" the DNS.

Yes, I used the latest versions. The server appears under the shared volumes in the finder. By default, it's not connected. even if I connect, I cannot access the Time Machine, unless it's doing the backup.

Part of it is there, the backups are occurring, but I cannot restore.
